These hounds are eager to please and can be trained easily. They get along well with other dogs. The Pharaoh Hound is a playful, active dog. He needs lots of exercise, loves attention and affection, and especially enjoys playing with children. He is an alert watchdog.
The Canaan Dog possesses extremely keen senses of hearing and smell, and he can detect approaching intruders from a considerable distance, becoming instantly alert. He is an intelligent, trainable breed whose tracking ability is excellent. When raised with children and other pets, he becomes a devoted family companion and natural watchdog.
The name is pronounced Buh-SEN-jee, and they are best known for their bark: They haven’t got one. They don’t bark, but they do make sounds. When they are happy they chortle or yodel softly, and they have a sad wail when they’re unhappy. Usually, however, they’re quiet.
